Ursula Jonas invites the viewer to step into her painting. Each canvas embodies her passion for nature and her love of the countryside. Ursula’s work reflects an intuitive sense of color, design and rhythmic movement. While the paintings reference specific places and views, her personal vision creates abstract, altered landscapes.

Ursula says "During my travels, I am often stopped by an almost magnetic attraction to a particular setting. This imagery remains on the edge of my consciousness before it emerges as a painting. I do not feel compelled to paint exactly what I see. Instead, I select intense experiences and then, in my studio, I compose a landscape which visualizes my memories".

Ursula Jonas studied painting and drawing at the Art Institute of Chicago, the University of Wisconsin, and with Rudolph Pen and Florence Singer. Her paintings have been exhibited extensively in the Chicago area, and more than one hundred of her works are in private collections throughout the United States.
